AMIRI HORN

Site Instructor - FIRST LEGO League

Amiri is a mechanical engineering student with a lifelong passion for robotics and hands-on learning. A former BB2S student himself, Amiri first joined the organization as a young participant in FIRST LEGO League and continued with BB2S throughout elementary and middle school. He later returned as a youth robotics coach and STEM instructor, making his journey with BB2S a full-circle experience.

Amiri is an honors graduate of Leodis V. McDaniel High School, where he completed Career & Technical Education programs in engineering and computer science and founded and led an award-winning FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team. He also served on the Portland Public Schools CTE Student Advisory Council, helping shape the future of engineering education.

His STEM experience extends beyond the classroom. Amiri has participated in biomimetics research at Portland State University and microrobotics research at Oregon State University, while also developing educational materials and teaching robotics and 3D printing through after-school programs and summer camps. He has coached FIRST LEGO League for four years, working with students ages 5–14 and helping them build confidence, problem-solving skills, and a passion for STEM.

Amiri is currently pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering at Oregon State University. His long-term goal is to work in robotics and biomimetics, designing advanced prosthetics that improve mobility and quality of life for people in underserved communities.

At BB2S, Amiri currently serves as a FIRST LEGO League Site Instructor, bringing his experience as both a former BB2S student and robotics competitor to the next generation of young innovators. Outside of robotics and engineering, Amiri enjoys using his 3D printers to create everything from engineering prototypes to cosplay pieces and accessories.
